Lonnie & Joyce Moffitt

My wife, Joyce, and I joined Southeast when the new building opened on Bay Area Blvd.  We came to the Grand Opening and immediately knew Southeast was where we belonged. My thirst for the truth, the interesting and challenging adult classes, my hunger for fellowship with my brothers and sisters, the great sermons, and the general atmosphere of the love of God that permeates throughout our congregation keeps me at Southeast. I teach a Bible class, and I have been a coordinator for Sunday morning worship time. Joyce and I are involved with Hope for Haiti’s Children, and we host a small group. We have two grown sons and five grandchildren.

Lanny & Donna Partain

My wife, Donna, and I came to Southeast in 2001. We found Southeast to be a place that focused more on people than on tradition and doctrine while still holding to the core values of our faith. I am kept at Southeast by a strong attachment to the members and a continuing faith in the mission of the congregation. Donna and I have two daughters, Sheila in Nederland, TX, and Jana in Round Rock, TX. Sheila has two children, Kara and Charlie. Both girls are married to men who, like them, are teachers by profession. Jana and her husband are teachers in the Texas State School for the Deaf in Austin. Sheila and her husband work in the Beaumont school district. Sheila is in deaf education also. Email

Bob & Debbie Gardner

I attended for the first time in January, 1972, when Debbie and I started dating. I wanted to spend as much time with her as I could and got Southeast as a bonus. I have been here continuously since then except the time I spent in West Texas going to Sunset School of Preaching and working for the church in Big Spring, Texas. Family keeps us at Southeast. I love our community of believers in so many ways: all of the public venues, worship, classes, the Youth Group, our outreach in the mission fields abroad and at home. Being joined with so many dedicated believers and sharing our lives together keeps me grounded. Debbie and I have three grown children who are all active in church and four grandchildren who get a lot of our attention and love. Email

Jayson & Joy Henry

Joy and I joined Southeast in 2000. We were attracted by the worship, children’s programs and strong leadership, but we stayed because of the connections we made. We continue to call Southeast home because of our involvement in Haiti, our excellence in children’s programming, our passion for life-changing worship, our dedication to meaningful Bible study and how all of our ministries work under the leadership of Godly men to change our world to the glory of Jesus Christ. Joy and I reside in Pearland with our two sons, Chad and Brian.  It is my joy to be the Worship Minister and to be responsible for our corporate worship experiences. Email

Steve & Lisa Sargent

In 1997, my wife, Lisa, and I needed a church family to help us rear and educate our boys in the knowledge and love of God. We were also interested in finding like-minded Christians who were more interested in loving people than simply being “right” from a theological perspective, and we wanted to find a place where we felt a sense of belonging and a place where we would be challenged and encouraged to use our gifts to glorify God. Southeast became our home. I have always wanted to be part of a church that showed its love for God’s world by helping the helpless. As James said, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”  I want to see our church continue to strive toward pure and faultless religion. Lisa and I have two sons, Blake and Brandon. I am a manager of strategic accounts for a software company, and Lisa is a teacher at Friendswood High School. Email

Keith & Diane Hardcastle

My wife, Dianne, and I came to Southeast in June, 2011. My family and I felt so welcomed and were truly encouraged by the warmth and sincere sense of belonging from our first visits. The Staff and Ministry Leaders have been very inclusive in helping us find our places to serve. I have a tremendous respect for those men who now lead and for the men and women who lead and participate in the various ministries, and I believe whole-heartedly in the mission this congregation supports. Before coming to Southeast, I served as an elder in the Southwest Church of Christ in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Our daughter Paige is a member at Southeast now too, and we have a son, Jason, who lives in Galveston with his family. I work for Gulf Coast Waste Disposal Authority in Houston as Director of Human Resources and Staff Services. Email

Brandon & Tonya Sumners

My wife, Tonya, and I came to Southeast in January, 2012. We were attracted by the large and very busy Youth Group. We were looking for an opportunity for our girls to be a part of a vibrant, serving, and God-loving Youth Ministry. We were also impressed by the friendliness we encountered in our LIFE Group experiences. We have made many friends here who we now consider family. We do not have any family locally, so we rely on God to provide us with those relationships through His children at Southeast. We see an amazing and bright future for the congregation at Southeast and love being a part of that. Tonya is a Chemist, and I am a Chemical Engineer. We have three beautiful daughters. They keep us busy with soccer, shopping, art, and dogs. We are very focused on raising our daughters to be wonderful examples of Christ. Our family has always put God and the Body of Christ first in all that we do. We hope you see that in us. Email

Tom & Sue Bunkley

My wife, Sue, and I joined Southeast in July, 2004. We were attracted to the warmth of everyone we met. We were also impressed with the vast outreach this congregation has with the community. We are active in a program to feed the poor and to visit those in hospitals. We actively participate in a LIFE Group, in Family Promise, and I serve in the Bay Area Collaborative Partners Organization. We also support children through Hope for Haiti’s Children. Sue sings on the Praise Team and participates in the Sewing Ministry.  Southeast has become our spiritual home. I cannot imagine leaving such a wonderful congregation. We have two grown children and two granddaughters.
