Southeast Church of Christ
We began more than 100 years ago. We’d love for you to join us for the next 100 years. This section will help you learn who we are and where we’re headed.
Can’t be here in person? Join us live online. Want to hear that presentation again? Browse through our Media Library. Need additional resources? Check out RightNow Media.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO BEFORE MY FIRST APPOINTMENT?
Go to our website and download the intake forms. Please have these forms filled out prior to your first appointment.
Next, think clearly about your desired goal in counseling. Fill in the blank to this statement, “I will feel counseling has been successful if ____ is accomplished.” This applies to individual, marital, and family counseling.
What is meant by the designation LPC-Intern or LMFT-Associate?
An Intern or Associate has graduated with a Master's degree and is licensed to offer counseling only with the oversight of a licensed counseling supervisor. Once the Intern or Associate has accumulated 3,000 counseling hours, then they can apply for a full license.
WHAT IF MY SPOUSE DOESN’T WANT TO COME?
This is an unfortunate reality. Yet, we know that if even one person improves, there will be change within the marriage. While not guaranteed, many a spouse has been won by the Christian behavior of the other.
What do you think about medication?
There is much research showing that medication in combination with counseling is very beneficial. Therefore, we will refer out to psychiatrists when we think medication might be helpful.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GO THROUGH THERAPY?
That is a difficult question and one that is of-ten asked. There is no average time frame. It all depends upon the issues you present and your motivation to work.
Do you accept insurance?
At this time we do not accept insurance. We will gladly prepare a statement for you that you can submit to your insurance company yourself.
Can I get better just by reading self-help books?
It is possible to get better through your own efforts. Many people go their whole lives never seeking outside help. However, many people do find much support and encouragement by seeking help from someone else. If you find yourself making the same mistakes, you might consider seeking help so you can find a better way to deal with the issues you face.
